Hotel Rwanda

1) what role does the media play in our life? To my opinion, I think media play two roles simultaneously. One is the beneficial way which gives positive effects for us. On the other hand, media also plays a deleterious role which damages our daily life. In the beneficial way, media is able to spread the news speedy, also announce the latest event all over the world. Furthermore, media brings convinence to our daily life that we can always receive the news from radio, tv, or newspaper. For theses concerns, i believe media is surly a beneficial influence and invention to society. However, in nowadays; media often delivers falsely image and information. Media companies sometimes in order to make attention, they expresses bombastic writings or speeches. Not only this, media also incite people. By exaggerating, people usually focus on the wrong concept. Therefore, media can also play a harmful role to us.
2) have you ever read/ watched a news story that made you angry and/or want to take action? Yes! Whenever there's news that is saying dog mistreatment, that make me so pissed all the time. It is unbelievable that there are human treating dogs like trash. They have their right to live and they are also consider as living creatures on the earth. The sad part is that, dogs can not resist the cruelty. they are not able to communicate with humans.
3) who is accountable for the media? Every single person is accountable for media. We the population have the choice to decide whether to receive the media or not. Therefore, when news is spreading some false information, we should be able to distinguish the accuracy by our own self. Once the media is rumoring some is not true, but we still watching the news, then we are giving them credit by giving false information. The good way to stop them doing so is to refuse their wrong details.

Joseph Kony is a Criminal But Museveni allowed Human Trafficking

This is an article from policymic claimed that, women were lured to foreign countries to search for jobs. However, those women became forced labor and prosititution. Furthermore, Uganda Veterans Development Limited (UVDL) was involved in this scandal. Some companies used oversea workers to lure women into human trafficking. Surprisingly, the increased of human trafficking was caused by corruption of President Museveni. Dictator Yoweri Museveni was losing due to the fact of poor economy. Therefore, improving economy was the only way to win "relection". Museveni could not lose any of his mailitary service companies, otherwise reelection would be less possible for him. A meber from Museveni’s National Resistance Movement party uttered that, doing so could iprove business relations between countries and raised thier confidence. However, lots of those companies were found out committed rape, torture, and beating female employees, and selling them into slavery. It is Uganda government's responsibility to shut down those illegaled companies that abuted human rights. Reluctently, solving this problem would cause huge amount of money which made Museveni's economy policy seemed even worse. As a result, human trafficking still exist in Uganda. Museveni's desire had caused human trafficking. To solve the human trafficking problem, to lower Museveni's authority was the first priority.

What can we do?

Since we have learned a play of Anne Frank's diary and some events that took place during the power of Nazi which was known as the Holocuast, we discussed the duty for each individual toward others. Therefore, we have seen a paragraph written below as,

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.
- Martin Niemöller

QUESTIONS

*What do you think Niemöller’s purpose was for writing and speaking these lines throughout his life after the war?

I think he was feeling guilty that he did not help other people. Also, he claimed that people was not willing to help others by that time period. We often viewed things regardless as long as the event did not relate to us. We even worse, ignored directly to those who needs help with. Sometimes by ignoring, only because we escape the justice and pursue the easy and lazy way instead.

*Do you think that everyone in Germany was partly responsible for the Nazi’s rise to power, or that only those active in the Nazi Party were responsible? Explain your answer.

I think basically all of the people in Gernany during that time period were some how related to the responsibility. They had the responsibility to stop the Nazi. Since they were in the country and be considered as citizens, silent meant nothing. If a person disagreed with government policy, kept down their voice was a passive action that actually allowing what Hitler was doing.

*How much responsibility do you feel for what takes place around you: in your family, in your school, in your city, in your country, and in the world? List at least three responsibilities you feel for each level.

I think everyone is taking lots of responsibilities everyday. Even though the responsibility may seem worthless, however; each of them means something while we estimate them deeply. As in my family, I feel like keeping my self healthy, happy, and safely are all qualities that I should be responsible for. At school, be quiet in class, finish all the assignments before due day, and participate in class are behaviors which count as my resbonsibility as well. Furthermore, in the city or country that I am living in, picking up trash, following traffic rules, and helping people are all the actions that consider as my responsibility.
